Florida Whip Scorpion (Phrynus marginemaculata) harmless

The Florida whip scorpion is not a true scorpion, they are a completely harmless arachnid. They lack venom and have no real means to defend them selves. They are very fast and rely on their speed to evade predators. They subdue small insects by grabbing them with their spiked pedipalps. Their first set of legs are modified sensory organs for feeling holes , crevices and prey location.
